Pots clang, dishes clink, spoons fall to the floor. Flour is sprinkled everywhere, dishes piled high in the sink.
But I don't care. Me and my daughter are baking. Or should I say, I'm baking and she's being a super duper good helper. I think its extremely important that we teach our children to help from an early age. They want to help. My daughter is 18 months old and she helps me with the dishwasher, the laundry, carrying things, you name it. She is so extremely proud of herself when I crouch down to her level and say “Good girl!” and “Thank you!”. Her grin is from ear to ear. When I have tons of time, its a joy to let her help. But come crunch time and things need to be done in a hurry, that's when I don't appreciate her help as much. But I should. I should teach her by example. I should be including her as much as I can. The floors don't need to be as clean as they could be and dinner doesn't have to be ready as soon as my hubby steps into the door.
Why?
Because we are baking and we are having fun! I'm so thankful for my little helper!
